2014 Goosecross Branta

In the glass, Branta has a dark, brooding look that lives up to its name and sets the stage for the big, masculine nature of this wine. The nose is tickled by tantalizing aromatics of Syrah meatiness backed by juicy notes of black plum, smoke, white pepper, blackberry, and anise.

The palate is big and fat and rich with a liquid-velvety smoothness and a finish that just keeps going and going. A core of black cherry, black current and dried cranberry is kept in check by soft chocolate tannins that are clearly present but are well integrated with the wine.
